CHICAGO, IL (May 13, 2013) – The nationwide Steinway & Sons Living Legends piano tour wraps up its Midwest leg this month at Steinway Piano Gallery Chicago. The tour brings actual pianos played by legendary Steinway artists to galleries across the country and offers visitors an opportunity to see, hear, touch, and play these renowned instruments.

For years, the world’s greatest piano artists have insisted on using only Steinway & Sons pianos—the finest pianos in the world—for their performances and recordings. Many of the special instruments used by music’s living legends are now part of the permanent Steinway-owned collection. These pianos have felt the touch of some of the world’s greatest artists, including: Keith Jarrett, Diana Krall, McCoy Tyner, David Benoit, Lang Lang, Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Bruce Hornsby, Allen Toussaint, Ramsey Lewis, Harry Connick Jr., Fred Hersch, Regina Spektor, Jason Moran, and Billy Joel.

“These incredible instruments have been here in our galleries since early May,” said Gordon McNelly, Steinway Piano Gallery Chicago Manager. “We have been overwhelmed with the response. When people see and touch the pianos that their musical heroes have played, something magical happens. It’s wonderful to see the pleasure and excitement these instruments bring to people’s faces.”

The Living Legends pianos will be available for viewing and playing at Steinway Piano Gallery Chicago, both Hinsdale and Northbrook locations, through May 31, 2013. These will be the final Midwest dates in a national tour that has included stops in Minnesota, Texas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and Colorado and will soon head to New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C.
